All the elements that make up the range of By Joost ceramics are raw, natural and a reminder of the earth. The materials are sourced from the soils of Australia and Joost collaborates with local artisans to create beautiful, handmade, earthy and resilient pieces of bespoke pottery. No two pieces are the same. As the fluid glaze responds to the maker’s hand and is poured over the raw terra cotta it seals the inside of the vessel and its energy is caught in motion. The materials naturally age, patina and weather and at the end the terra cotta can simply be broken down and returned to the earth. Microwave & Dishwasher safe. 210mm dia, 58mm high.

Joost Bakker, born in Holland, now living in Melbourne, is a multi-disciplinary self taught designer and general creative who is highly regarded across Australia for his installations and public works. Through these works he hopes to inspire people to think about the idea of creating a sustainable future. His new range of ceramic tableware continues this idea with its reference to the humble terracotta pot.
